Request to European Commission for Financing of Reconstruction of Railroad from Sarajevo to Belgrade Being Prepared

He said that, after the meeting with the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, the preparation of the application toward the European Commission in order to get 40% or 50% of the funds for the financing of that project was in progress.
– In essence, we would connect Sarajevo and Belgrade that way, and what’s crucial for us is to connect Bosnia and Herzegovina with the rest of Europe through the rail Corridor 5C, but also to reconstruct the corridor which goes from Novi Grad, Banjaluka, through Doboj, Tuzla, Zvornik and farther to Serbia – Forto said.
He explained that those were corridors that needed to be done and that they needed to be done according to European standards, entailing a minimum speed of 120 km/h for cargo and passenger transport.
