Project of renovation of small hydropower plants continues – EPS opens tender for reconstruction of another 7 facilities

The Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda Srbije has announced the continuation of the project of the reconstruction of small hydropower plants. A tender has been opened for LOT 4 and contractors are being sought for the reconstruction of seven SHPPs in southeast Serbia.

Works are to take place on SHPP Sveta Petka and SHPP Sicevo close to Nis, SHPP Temac close to Pirot, SHPP Sokolovica and SHPP Gamzigrad close to Zajecar, SHPP Vucje close to Leskovac and SHPP Jelasnica close to Surdulica.

The works on each small hydropower plant encompass removing or disassembling existing facilities, earth works, concrete works, fortifying, masonry, insulation, locksmithing, sheet metal works, facade works, painting and plaster works, as well as installing the water supply and sewer systems, including the delivery of pipes.

The works are expected to take 60 weeks, and the bid submission deadline is July 5, 2017. More details about the tender can be found HERE.

The works are financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) from the funds meant for the reconstruction of 15 SHPPs.

The EBRD loan for this project was secured back in 2011, and EPS already has to pay penalties for failure to withdraw the funds. The penalties reached nearly a million euros in 2016 alone.

Let us remind that, in early 2017, EPS opened a tender for the reconstruction of 7 other SHPPs in Serbia – Raska at Novi Pazar, Radaljska Banja at Mali Zvornik, Seljasnica at Prijepolje, Kratovska Reka at Priboj, Pod Gradom and Turica at Uzice, as well as Moravica at Ivanjica.
