The new, re-stylized model of Fiat 500L has been promoted in the Kragujevac car factory. The new model will be made available as soon as this July.
The presentation of the new model in Kragujevac was attended by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, ministers Rasim Ljajic and Zorana Mihajlovic and Alfredo Altavilla, COO of FCA group for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, who pointed out that the first commercial unit of the new Fiat 500L model would be produced soon.
He added that 500L was the best sold multi-purpose car in the markets of Serbia and Europe.
– The new Fiat 500L is a successor to the best sold small multi-purpose vehicle in Europe and is destined to repeat and continue its success. We are proud to be able to say that the ambitious plan to make the Kragujevac factory a center of production activities again has been accomplished. We had strong foundations to make a good start. Kragujevac provided qualified workforce and strong industrial support and the Government of Serbia was a dedicated partner, whereas the FCA group contributed with its rich global knowledge, resources and market access – Altavilla pointed out.
Aleksandar Vucic said that he believed that the three versions of the new model (urban, cross and wagon) would find their way to the market and pointed out that Fiat operations made up three percent of the Serbian GDP and nearly eight percent of total exports.
– We continue to make efforts to have Fiat exported to the Russian market and I believe that this will be achieved before the end of the year – the prime minister added.
The successor to the old model is even more practical and technologically perfect. The front part and the interior have been modernized and the redesign also encompasses the 500L model with seven seats (wagon).
The new fiat is available in ten pastel or metallic colors and three types of roofs. The interior has been fully redesigned, starting with the dashboard, and the drivers will have a digital display at their disposal, providing them with useful information.
The sale of new models begins in July, and Fiat says that the price will depend on the equipment and the engine. They believe that Fiat 500L will be available to local customers as well.
Let us remind that the serial production of Fiat 500L began in Kragujevac in 2012. According to the agreement on the foundation of a joint company of Italy's Fiat and the Republic of Serbia, which was signed on September 29, 2008, the Turin-based car manufacturer has a 67% stake in the company, whereas the remaining 33% belongs to the state.
FCA is the leading Serbian exporter with EUR 1 billion realized in 2016. More than EUR 1.3 billion has been invested in the Kragujevac factory so far, of which over EUR 1 billion in acquiring the latest production equipment.
