Zijin considering acquisition of Lece mine near Medvedja

Zijin Copper Bor will increase the production of copper to 80,000 tons over the next three years, which will be a very important thing for Bor, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated during his recent visit to RTB Bor and added that the Chinese company also considered the possibility of the takeover of the Lece mine near Medvedja.

Vucic noted that Serbia lagged behind by 20 years when it comes to copper smelting technology, but that some progress would be made with the arrival of the Chinese giant. He added that the takeover of Lece was discussed at the meeting with the company's representatives.

– They took this into consideration and they are preparing a feasibility study, and I will advocate for them to come to Lece as well – Vucic said and added that it would mean salvation for Medvedja, Lebane and the whole Jablanica District.
