Replacement of railroad ties on Ripanj Tunel bridge begins

Serbian Railways Infrastructure announced that it had started reconstructing the Ripanj Tunel bridge on the Belgrade-Mladenovac railway the previous weekend.

The company will replace a total of 186 railroad ties on the Ripanj Tunel bridge, the total length of which is 105 meters.

This will increase the speed of trains on the bridge to the main railway between Belgrade and Nis to 50 kilometers an hour. Due to the bad condition and the worn out ties on this part of the railway, trains could only run at 10 kilometers an hour on this bridge, the press release says.

Serbian Railways Infrastructure will organize and finance the repair by itself. It will also provide the workforce and the equipment.
