Serbia on Pedestrian map of Europe for first time ever

- European Mountain Climbing Federation has made "European Pedestrian Map" for year 2010, and that map, on the route from North Pole to Greece, includes Serbia for the first time ever - people from the Mountain Climbing Association of Serbia announced yesterday (January 4, 2010).
At the press conference in Gornji Milanovac, a representative of the Mountain Climbing Association of Serbia, Borisav Čeliković, said that thousands of mountain climbers from all European countries had joined that manifestation to get familiar with the cultural-historical sights worldwide.
About 20,000 mountain climbers, all around Europe, walk that route every day, far from the paved junctions. It is expected that over 50,000 mountain climbers will pass through the Rudnik-Takovo region this year, which will also be of economic significance to the region because the passengers will be using accommodation and catering facilities.
The patrons of the programme are the Mountain Climbing Association and the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia.
