Temerin has been selected as the first municipality to implement the Peer Review project. During the next six months, the possibilities of application of renewable energy sources will be tested in that town, with the aim of ensuring significant energy and money savings and facilitating development of energy-efficient municipalities in the province.

Doc. Dr. Branislava Belic, the Vice-President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina, held a working meeting yesterday in the Provincial Parliament with the holders of the Peer Review project, which is being jointly implemented by the Assembly of AP Vojvodina, the Assembly of European Regions, the Provincial Secretariat for Energy and Mineral Raw Materials, and domestic and foreign energy experts.

Doc. Dr. Branislava Belic, who is also the manager of that project, said that the final goal of the project was to provide Vojvodina with the Energy Efficiency Strategy, which could later serve as a model for other European regions.

- Besides, I am very proud of the fact that our efforts and active participation in the work of the Assembly of European Regions during eight years of our membership in that organization have resulted in approval of the first grant for realization of such important project for our Province, which will also enable significant savings in the budget of AP Vojvodina - said Doc. Dr. Belic.

Temerin will be the first municipality to implement the Peer Review project because it is in the vicinity of Novi Sad and has good conditions for realization of that project.

- There are facilities of primary and nursery schools in Temerin that could be immediately used for the project. After its completion, these facilities should become educational centers for realization of the strategy for development of energy-efficient municipalities in Vojvodina - said Doc. Dr. Branislava Belic.

The project for creation of energy-efficient municipalities in Vojvodina is worth EUR 43,000, and the funds for realization of that project have been provided by the Central European Initiative (CEI).
