People of Temerin Finally to Be Able to Drink Water Without Arsenic? – Looking for Designer of Water Factory on Staro Djurdjevo Spring

It seems that the citizens of Temerin will finally get healthy drinking water. The PUE Temerin has opened the tender for the designing of a water factory on the Staro Djurdjevo spring.

In the municipality of Temerin, for decades now, there’s been a constant presence of a higher-than-allowed percentage of arsenic and ammonia.

Due to the concentration of arsenic, back in late 2003, the use of drinking water from the water supply network in the territory of the whole municipality was banned.

The realization of the announced drinking water factory has now finally started.

According to the project documentation, Staro Djurdjevo is the second most important spring for the supply of drinking water in Temerin, Sirig and Backi Jarak in the municipality of Temerin.

– The Staro Djurdjevo spring, according to its hydrogeological characteristics and the physical-chemical quality of raw water, compared to other springs, and its position relative to the two biggest settlements in the municipality, is the most favorable one for the supply of the whole municipality and it expected that the facility for the processing of well water on this spring will have the lowest operating costs regarding the treatment of raw well water – the documentation says.

The subject of the public procurement procedure is the research of the technology for the preparation of drinking water from the Staro Djurdjevo spring at the exploration semi-industrial facility (PILOT) for the preparation of drinking water, within which the ways of removing arsenic and ammonia from the water will be considered, after which, based on the obtained data, the project technical documentation for the construction of the facility for the preparation of drinking water for the municipality of Temerin will be prepared as well.

The tender is open until December 20.
