New preliminary solution for Slavija and 100,000 square meters of new buildings in Belgrade prior to end of 2006

Two years passed from the announcement of the open competition and it is now for sure that the preliminary solution for monument to modern Serbia, which should have taken the central part of the Slavija Square, will not be realized. Prior to the end of 2006, there will be some new land-utilization plans, first of all – the traffic project for the Slavija Square. The main architect of Belgrade, Đorđe Bobić, has already announced plans for detailed regulation, which will develop programs for the space where Slavija cinema used to stand, the space around the National Bank of Serbia and the space between Bulevar oslobođenja Street and Deligradska Street, because there are many investors interested in this location, but the conditions for construction of 100,000 square meters still need to be created. At the same time, the ideas for central monument will be developed.
The monument to Dimitrije Tucović will be, most probably, moved to the namesake street and it will be checked carefully whether there are remains of this politician underneath the monument.
