Special equipment for the construction of a new fast railway for speeds up to 200 km/h, from Novi Sad to Subotica, has been successfully unloaded at the DP World port in Novi Sad, the DP World company announced.

The total weight of the equipment which was transported to the Novi Sad port by barges and which will be used for the construction of the new fast railroad amounts to more than 1,300 tons, the press release adds.

The CEO of DP World Novi Sad, Claudio Negreanu, has stated that special diesel train engines of 138 tons each were unloaded from the barges onto the port, which is one of the heaviest individual cargos ever to arrive to the port.

The workers used a combination of two lifts with lifting capacities of 350 and 400 tons in order to reload the special engines and other equipment for the continuation of the construction of the fast railroad from Novi Sad to the border with Hungary.

The construction of the railroad from Novi Sad to Subotica for speeds up to 200 km/h is part of the international corridor which connects Belgrade and Budapest. The first section of this corridor from Belgrade to Novi Sad opened for traffic a year ago.
