The daily ticket for public city transport RSD 120, instead of 200

The mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Sapic, said that the decision was made for the daily ticket for city transport to cost RSD 120 , or EUR 1.

He explained to Prva television that the monthly ticket for all four zones used to cost RSD 4,990, but now it is only RSD 3,500, reports Beoinfo.

- In order for the price of the tickets to be proportional, I agreed with the proposal by the Secretariat for Public Transport that the price of the daily ticket should be RSD 120, that is, EUR 1, because that way we can create a fairer gradation of ticket purchases - the mayor pointed out.

As a reminder to our readers, 3 days ago Sapic stated that the all-day ticket will cost RSD 200.

He stated that the new system should take effect in the coming weeks, and that citizens will be informed in due time if there are minor corrections.

He reiterated that the new charging system in public city transport will be much simpler, cheaper and more efficient.

- We work in parallel on several levels. We are cutting costs in GSP, and we will have full insight into the state of affairs when we take over the system that is now controlled by a private entity. The current system has proven to be dysfunctional, unprofitable and bad for the city in all aspects - pointed out Sapic, reiterating that, since the introduction of the new system, the collection has decreased by RSD three billion, i.e. EUR 25 million on an annual level.

According to him, citizens will initially buy tickets via SMS, as well as at several sales facilities in the capital, while during the summer these sales will start at Belgrade kiosks and through the app.

- Belgrade citizens over the age of 65 will now be able to obtain a lifelong ticket for the public city transport, whereas until now they had to do it once a year, while waiting in line. I also want to emphasize that their existing tickets will be valid until the end of this year - said the mayor.

Sapic pointed out that ticket control will also be simpler because from now on it will be done by communal militiamen - BELI, who have had to participate in that process until now.

- The City of Belgrade announced the admission of 200 new, and an additional request to the Government of Serbia for the admission of 1,000 new BELI employees. We will offer all controllers currently working an option enter the new system, with adequate training and fulfillment of certain conditions. Those people will have the opportunity to continue working, but also to do other jobs under the competence of the Whites - Sapic concluded.
