Export of Honey and Pet Food to China Enabled – Signing of Protocol for Export of Apples Expected

The protocol on the export of honey and the export of pet food was signed by the minister of agriculture, forestry and water management of Serbia, Jelena Tanaskovic, and the representative of the Chinese customs service, Wang Lingjun.

Tanaksovic, who is on a visit to the Chinese city of Ningbo on the occasion of the 6th Dialogue on Customs, Inspection and Quarantine, within the cooperation of China and the 14 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, said that “now there are clear rules for the export of these products, which means a lot to our companies, and the signing of the third protocol for the export of apples is expected soon.”

According to the website of the Government of Serbia, the trade grows years after year and China is definitely a very important external trade partner, to which we will turn more and more, the minister emphasized and added that the trade of agricultural and food products had reached USD 55.5 million in 2022.

Earlier that day, talking at the panel within said dialogue, she pointed to the need of improving institutional cooperation and harmonizing the necessary veterinarian-sanitary and phytosanitary conditions.

The minister expressed her expectation that the agreement on free trade between Serbia and China would be signed as soon as possible and estimated that it would contribute to the strengthening of the firm friendship between the two nations.
