Which of the traffic routes which are under construction and which are yet to be built will be highways, and which will be fast roads, is far clearer now that the new Decree on the Categorization of First and Second Grade State Roads was adopted at the latest session of the Government of Serbia. According to the new decree, nine highways, that is, IA-grade state roads, are determined. In addition to those which have already been built and those under construction, this document says that the category of highways will certainly include the traffic routes Novi Sad-Zrenjanin-Belgrade, the section from Pozega to the border with Montenegro, as well as the traffic stretch from Bubanj Potok through Pancevo to the border with Romania.

A total of 36 traffic routes will belong to the category of fast roads (IB-grade state roads). In addition to those already built and those on which works are being done at the moment, the category of fast routes will include the sections Paracin-Boljevac-Zajecar-Bulgarian state border, about which it has been uncertain for years whether it will be built as a highway or a fast route.

The traffic route from the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina through Loznica and Valjevo, Arandjelovac and Topola to Svilajnac, as well as the section from Mali Zvornik through Uzice and Kremna to the Kotroman border crossing, have also been included in the category of fast roads.

The list of all IA, IB, IIA and IIB roads can be found HERE.
