American investors visit Serbia

Since 2020, Serbia has cumulatively attracted EUR 15.9 billion in foreign direct investments, stated the minister of finance, Sinisa Mali, at a meeting with global investors from the USA.

– We don’t discriminate between local and foreign investors. I hope that, in Serbia, you will find projects and opportunities that will interest you to invest – Mali said to the investors who had arrived to Belgrade in order to learn about all the parameters of the Serbian economy following the visit of the Serbian delegation to Washington, D.C. on the occasion of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Mali said that Serbia did not discriminate between local and foreign investors, the ministry announced.

– I hope that, in Serbia, you will find projects and opportunities that will interest you to invest – said the minister.

He said that the GDP growth in Serbia in 2023 was 2.5% and that, in the final quarter alone, it had been 3.8%, and that, in February 2024, it had been 5.9% and that it was based on exports and investments. He added that the official statistical data of Serbia showed that each industry was recording a growth.


Mali also emphasized that Serbia had a stable public debt, at the level of 47.6% of the GDP, and that the global public debt had increased from 84% to 93% of the GDP in a few years and that the average debt of the euro area amounted to 89%.

He also pointed out that Serbia’s budget deficit was 2.2%, despite the initial projections of 3.3%, and that 63% of direct foreign investments in the region arrived to Serbia.
