As the ministry announced, Djedovic Handanovic said that Germany had been providing strong support to the energy sector of Serbia and the shift to cleaner energy sources for more than two decades.
KfW has an important role as a partner in the realization of numerous projects. In cooperation with KfW, in the first phase, we built new biomass heating plants in Mali Zvornik, Priboj, Novi Pazar and Majdanpek. In the second phase, worth EUR 32 million, in the next several years, another five heating plants will shift to using RES instead of fossil fuels, said Djedovic Handanovic.
She added that, through cooperation with KfW, they would also work on introducing solar energy and building battery storage facilities in heating plants.
Mueller expressed an interest of KfW in investments in innovative projects in the field of RES, such as green hydrogen, through a potential pilot project, in cooperation with the private sector, which would open the door to new investments in hydrogen infrastructure in Serbia.
