Everyday traffic jams and the constant rushing, combined with workplace stress, make many people want to take a vacation outside cities, especially cities with multi-million populations, such as Belgrade. For those who want to enjoy the nature and medicinal water, without having to travel too far, an ideal place is Obrenovacka Banja.

Obrenovacka Banja is located in the eponymous municipality 28 kilometers away from the capital city. The medicinal water was discovered accidentally when there was a search for water during the 19th century.

When was medicinal water discovered in Obrenovacka Banja?

By its composition, the water in Obrenovacka Banja is medicinal alkaline-sulfuric water, rich in natrium and sulfur. As the Beogradski Izlet portal writes, in 1900, the municipality built baths in the building which had been gifted to the state by the wealthy trader Djuka Markovic and the Obrenovac mineral bath was built.

The spa bath building is built in the architectural style characteristic of the then new small towns. Later, a new spring was excavated, the bath was renewed in 1928, and the data from that time say that there were 25 porcelain baths there. A similar job was done in 1958, since when, to the present day, the water from the new spring has been used.

How does treatment in Obrenovacka Banja function?

The treatment in Obrenovacka Banja is done by bathing in heated water for 20 minutes and drinking the water, the portal writes. They add that bathing in the baths is most often done at neutral temperatures, of around 33-34 degrees Celsius.

Here are the conditions that are most frequently treated in Obrenovacka Banja:

– chronic rheumatic diseases of the musculoskeletal system
– chronic gynecological diseases

– metal poisoning
– liver and bile duct diseases
– neuralgias
– consequences of osteoarticular traumatism.

The drinking of this water, in strictly defined dosages, can be used for the treatment of the following chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract: chronic gastritis (hyper-acidic) and chronic duodenitis, functional diseases of the stomach and intestines and chronic cholecystitis.

The spa can be visited throughout the year.
