He announced that, with the amendment to the planning documentation, the moving of the Main Bus Station to the intersection of Heroja sa Kosara Blvd and 12. Februara Blvd would be made possible. It is also planned for the Main Rail Station to be moved from a facility built a century ago to the Crveni Krst terminal, which meets all the necessary requirements for rail traffic in terms of infrastructure and location.
With the reconstruction of the existing facilities and the construction of a new one, with waiting rooms and other features, in the future, the city center is supposed to be fully unburdened by rail traffic, and passengers will be able to reach Crveni Krst by public transport, the city announces.
The moving of the Main Bus Station, the management of Nis points out, is of special importance, because the part of the city in close proximity to it, in Djuke Dinic Street, is closed to traffic, thereby connecting the park areas at the University Square and near the Belgrade Gate of the local Fortress, recently reconstructed and turned into a pedestrian zone.
The local self-government, however, has not yet announced what happens with the current locations of the Main Bus Station and the Main Rail Station.
