Contract for design of third line of Belgrade Subway signed

The project and technical documentation for the third line of the Belgrade Subway will be prepared by a consortium led by the company CRDC - China Railway Design Corporation, branch Belgrade Savski venac (China Railway Design Corporation Serbia), which was selected in the public procurement procedure, as announced by the PUC Belgrade Metro and Train, Beoinfo reports.

As stated, in the selected group of bidders, in addition to CRDC as the holder of the list, there is also the renowned company Luis Berger d. o. o. with Ko design d. o. o. Belgrade, with the support of domestic subcontractors.

The contract titled Development of project and technical documentation: feasibility study with conceptual design and study on environmental impact assessment for the third line of the Belgrade Subway was signed by the director of the Belgrade Metro and Train, Andreja Mladenovic, and the secretary for public transport of Belgrade, Radovan Kremic, with Yen Jongyin, on behalf of the branch of CRDC in Serbia.

The total value of the signed contract is 2,285,400,000.03 dinars without the VAT (2,742,480,000.04 dinars with the VAT), which is significantly lower than the estimated value of 2,950,000,000.00 dinars without the VAT, the announcement says.

– According to the public invitation, four bids from renowned companies were received, and the selected bidder achieved the highest rating – they said at the Belgrade Metro and Train.

CRDC, it is reminded, has been a leading design company in the field of railway, urban and traffic engineering for more than 70 years. In total, they have designed more than 46,000 kilometers of railways, including 11,000 kilometers of high-speed railways, as well as subway lines and transport hubs in many cities. The company is certified according to ISO9001 standards for quality, occupational safety and environmental protection. CRDC has rich experience in the implementation of infrastructure projects in the Republic of Serbia, which additionally guarantees high-quality and professional preparation of the feasibility study with the conceptual design and the environmental impact assessment study for the future third line of the subway system in Belgrade.


The construction of three subway lines is planned, and the conceptual solution for line 3 envisages a route from Bezaniia to Banjica, with an extension to the future Biocampus. The total travel time from the first to the last station, out of a total of 22 stops planned on this line, will be 38 minutes, with intersections with line 1 at the Republic Square and with line 2 at the Arena.
