The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has announced that, due to the current epizootiology situation in the world, increased control is to be implemented in issuing decisions for the import or transit of shipments that are subject to veterinarian and sanitary control. As the ministry points out, this measure does not amount to a ban on imports, but is an additional check of the health safety of the shipments, based on a detailed risk analysis.

The analysis encompasses geographic and other characteristics of the exporting country or products which can lead to the occurrence, spreading and survival of infectious animal diseases. The decision was adopted in response to the occurrence of such diseases in certain states and has a preventive character exclusively, aiming to prevent their entrance into Serbia.

Those in charge emphasize that all the import procedures will be carried out in line with the increased control standards, so as to secure the highest level of security and preserve veterinary public health. The ministry thanks the business entities for their understanding and readiness for cooperation.
