As a logistics leader in the region, globally present in 15 countries, Milšped Group has clearly defined its path to a sustainable future: by publishing the first ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) strategy and the first ESG report for the Serbian market in 2024, it confirmed its commitment to integrating sustainability into all business processes. The goal? Transforming the logistics sector through innovation, reducing the carbon footprint and setting new industry standards.

Milšped has decisively launched an ambitious decarbonisation plan, with a focus on renewable energy and transport modernization. Investment in solar panels at warehouses in Krnješevci has already brought concrete results: electricity consumption for the needs of our largest logistics center from the network was reduced by 34% in 2024, and greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced accordingly. This solar power plant is only the first step — the company plans to expand capacity and research additional sustainable energy solutions.

One of the biggest investments in the last few years is the implementation of an integrated robotic system for the sorting and storage of goods based on the use of artificial intelligence, which enables not only more efficient inventory management, but also the preparation of goods for delivery. The use of this system complies with the principles of responsible business and sustainable development, where even 99.7% of the robot`s working time was used in an optimal way with a significant reduction in electricity consumption.

In parallel, the fleet is also being modernized: investments in electric trucks and other vehicles are following the goal that by 2030, all forklifts in warehouses and terminals should be replaced by electric ones with lithium-ion batteries, while in 2023, they installed the first electric chargers in Belgrade and Niš, with the vision that every location of the company will get at least one charger by 2030.

The company says that they have introduced measures to reduce our carbon footprint and implemented environmentally friendly solutions in transport, such as eco-driving training, route optimization and the transition to the EURO 6 fleet - this means that the company acquires or uses vehicles that meet the EURO 6 standard, that is, they have engines that produce considerably less harmful gases. In addition, Milšped focuses on intermodal solutions that promote sustainable modes of transport and significantly reduce CO₂ emissions, enabling greater environmental efficiency in the provision of services to clients.

As a key element of green logistics in Milšped, Intermodal transport combines railway and road transport through the MBOX terminal in Popovac — the only one of its kind in southern and central Serbia, built according to European standards. The partnership with the Chinese company Shijiazhuang International Land Port made it possible to establish a direct rail transport line between the Chinese province of Hebei and Serbia, which significantly affects transport optimization.

- In the modern world, efficiency is measured not only by profit, but also by responsibility towards the planet - the company emphasizes. With a modern fleet, solar panels, artificial intelligence and a clear ESG strategy, Milšped is proving that a green transition is possible — even in logistics. By combining railway infrastructure, renewable energy and digitization, Milšped not only reduces environmental impact, but also shows that it is possible to balance success and sustainability in the logistics industry.
