Amelo to build corn-processing factory in Sremska Mitrovica – Investment worth more than EUR 30 million, job for 150 people

Amelo, which operates within Trans-Oil Group, is to build a corn-processing factory in the location of the former Secerana in Sremska Mitrovica, announced mayor Branislav Nedimovic.

The works on the construction of the factory should begin in the autumn, and the value of the investment, as Nedimovic said, is estimated at over EUR 30 million.

Around 150 workers will be employed at the new facility, and the final product will be corn starch which is used in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

Nedimovic pointed out that it was one of the biggest investments in the food industry in Serbia in the past 40 to 50 years.

Trans-Oil Group is an agri-industrial conglomerate which operates in the field of the processing of oil plants, grains storage and trade, as well as the production and distribution of edible oils and flour. According to their official website, the company employs around 2,800 people, and its operations encompass a whole chain – from the procurement and processing of raw materials to logistics and exports.

The group has five factories for the processing of oil plants – three in Moldova, one in Romania and one in Serbia. In the segment of trade and export, Trans-Oil is the leading exporter of grains and oil plants in central and eastern Europe, with 49 storage capacities in Moldova, Romania and Serbia, with a total capacity of over 1 million tons.

Also, the group manages six exporting terminals for the reloading of grains and oil, located in Ukraine, Moldova and Serbia, with a total capacity of over 6 million tons a year.
