Sorting of shipments with help of robots starts at postal center in Nis

The Post of Serbia has put into operation the robotized system for automated sorting of shipments at the main postal center in Nis, which will improve the standards of the processing of shipments, the working conditions for the employees, and the quality of the provision of services to the users.

Miljan Raicevic, the director of the Nis Work Unit, said that the postal center in Nis would continue expanding the capacities and developing logistics services in line with the needs of the growing air traffic, whereby the city of Nis and the Post Office would be even better positioned in the market and on the map of the Republic of Serbia, announced the PE Post of Serbia.

Zoran Andjelkovic, the acting director of the Post of Serbia, said that the Post of Serbia had proven that it accepted new technologies and that it remained dedicated to the modernization and development of regional and local logistics centers, the increase of their capacities and the improvement of the performances.

– In addition to technical and technological modernization through the investment in robot support, the next thing we are planning in Nis is the expansion of the capacities for technological processes, whereas the center will soon also get solar panels and be fully equipped, multifunctional and self-sustaining. It will have all the preconditions to fully meet the requests of the big users, the biggest online sellers, which make requests for the automated processing of shipments and short delivery deadlines, and to follow the cargo traffic which is developing rapidly in this city – said director Andjelkovic.

The postal center in Nis, with an area of 4,500 square meters, is the most significant one for the reception and processing of shipments for south and southeast Serbia. In additional to regional postal and logistics centers in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis, the Post of Serbia has also secured a robot system for the automated sorting of shipments in Kragujevac, and one is being prepared for Kraljevo too, where a trend of the growth of the physical volume of shipments has also been recorded.

– Automation and robot support and preconditions for the improvement of the existing services and creation of new ones, as well as for increasing the quality of services we provide to users by constantly increasing the reliability, the speed of the transfer and the shortening of the delivery deadlines. They improve the working conditions for the employees and facilitate and accelerate their work – concluded Andjelkovic.
