WEG opens first domestic factory of LCD and LED TVs in Zeleznik - Investment worth about EUR 6 million

Serbia's WEG opened today the first domestic factory of LCD and LED TVs, worth over EUR 6 million, in Belgrade's settlement of Zeleznik.
As it was announced by Jovica Djuric, owner and director of the company WEG, the factory currently operates at 30 percent of its capacity and employs 35 workers, and the plan is to hire 150 people.
Operation at the full capacity of the factory will enable the employment of 500 people, he announced.
The Development Fund of Serbia backed that investment with EUR 2.5 million.
Serbian Minister of Economy Nebojsa Ciric said that WEG's factory would enable the employment of workers and boost exports.
As he stressed, the plan is to put an air conditioner production line in operation in about two months, as well as to start the production of vacuum cleaners and digital receivers until the year's end.
WEG has so far been assembling its products in Turkey and China.
WEG is already present in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania and, as Djuric explained, the opening of the factory in Zeleznik will boost the exports to the region and enable the export of products to the European Union.
WEG's factory in Zeleznik, spanning over 6,000 square meters, is conceived as a production and distribution center. It comprises a production facility, a storage space, and a customs warehouse.
