IMF's approval of arrangement for Serbia in October uncertain

President of the Fiscal Council Pavle Petrovic is of the opinion that it is uncertain whether the International Monetary Fund will approve a new arrangement for Serbia in October. He pointed out that the government's readiness to fix public finances in the medium term would be crucial for negotiations with that international finance institution.
Answering the questions of RTS journalists about whether it was realistic to expect that arrangement to be approved, Petrovic said that the chances for that to happen were small, adding that the IMF would definitely wait for the government to draft a budget for 2013 and a medium-term plan for strong reduction of deficit and public debt, as well as its political decision to conduct serious reforms in public finances.
