Works financed with proceeds from Russian loan for railways to commence October 2013 at the latest

Construction of the second track on the Pancevo Bridge - Pancevo Glavna railroad, which is the first stretch to be reconstructed with the proceeds of a Russian loan of USD 800 million, will commence in early October at the latest, Serbian Railways announced today in a release.

- Preparations are underway, and construction works are expected to begin as soon as the Russian loan becomes operable, in early October at the latest - the release reads.

The stretch between the Pancevo Bridge and the Pancevo Glavna (Main Station) is 15 kilometers long, and it is part of the Belgrade-Vrsac-Romanian border railroad.

This double-track railroad will shorten the travel time, allowing for for trains to travel at up to 120 kmph.

Construction of the second track will be carried out in phases, and it is expected to take 2.5 years to complete.
