Serbia's foreign debt at EUR 26.07 billion

Serbia's foreign debt was at EUR 26.07 billion at the end of June 2013, down 0.1 percent from the previous month, the Institute for Market Research (IZIT) said in its new bulletin.

The country's foreign debt at the end of June was 1.4 percent higher than in December 2012.

At the same time, the foreign debt of the public sector dropped 0.3 percent on a monthly basis from nearly EUR 12.9 billion, but it is still 6 percent higher than in late 2012.

The private sector generated a foreign debt of about EUR 13.1 billion, approximately the same as in the previous month, but still 2.8 percent less than at the end of December 2012.

In the structure of Serbia's overall foreign debt, the public sector's debt accounts for 49.5 percent, up from 47.4 percent at the end of 2012.

In late 2008, the debt of the public sector accounted for 30.9 percent of Serbia's overall foreign debt.
