First contracts, then production of Mercedes buses at Ikarbus

Ikarbus will begin regular production of Mercedes buses once contracts are signed with buyers, people at that company told Beta news agency today.

Ikarbus officials pointed out that they were talking with numerous prospective buyers interested in buying the buses assembled in Zemun in cooperation with German company Mercedes, but they did not want to reveal their names.

- Ikarbus buses will be produced only for known customers, meaning that the production will start after sales contracts are concluded - said people at Ikarbus.

On March 9th, Ikarbus unveiled a prototype of a city bus produced in cooperation with Mercedes. This bus is equipped with Euro5 engine, has 35 seats, costs about EUR 130,000, and can accommodate a total of 100 passengers. It is designed to operate on city and suburban lines.
