In the Beli Potok Tunnel, on the bypass route around Belgrade, the first tunnel tube has been excavated, whereas the second one will be excavated next week, stated the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Goran Vesic.

He pointed out that the tunnel was the most demanding and important structure on Sector 6 of the bypass route around Belgrade, according to the website of the Government of Serbia.

– Today, the diligent workers who work on Sector 6 of the bypass route around Belgrade excavated the first tunnel tube in the Beli Potok Tunnel, which is 360 meters long. The second tunnel tube will be excavated next week – Vesic said and specified that 10 tons of reinforcement and 10,000 cubic meters of concrete had been built into the tunnel and that an excavation had been done on around 100,000 cubic meters in the tunnel tubes themselves.

Sector 6, from Strazevica to the Bubanj Potok Interchange, is 9.6 kilometers long. A total of four overpasses, 870 meters long, two bridges of 913 meters and the Beli Potok Tunnel have been done on that sector, and the Avala interchange and the Bubanj Potok interchange-hub, with an exit toward Belgrade, are being done.

– When we finish this sector, the entire bypass route around Belgrade, over 47.7 kilometers long, to Bubanj Potok, will be completed, which will create the conditions for fully moving the transit traffic from the center of Belgrade, that is, from the Gazela Bridge – Vesic pointed out.

In order for the bypass route to be fully finished, it is also necessary to work on, to agree the final section of the bypass route, from Bubanj Potok to Pancevo, with a road-rail bridge near Vinca.

– When we agree that final 31st kilometer and finish everything, Belgrade will finally, after 30 years, get its bypass route, the construction of which started in the 1990s – the minister emphasized.

The Beli Potok Tunnel is being done as an open excavation. On the Avala interchange, works are ongoing on the extension of the two branches and the connection to the roundabout, and on the Bubanj Potok interchange, the remaining works on the structures are being done.

The works on the construction of the bypass route, Sector B, from the bridge on the Sava near Ostruznica, to Bubanj Potok, which encompass sections 4 – from the Ostruznica Bridge to the Orlovaca interchange, 5 – from the Orlovaca interchange to the Strazevica tunnel, and 6 – from Strazevica to Bubanj Potok, are being done by Power China, and the main subcontractor is the Azerbaijani company Azvirt.
