Japanese Company Starts Building Factory for Production of Electric Motor Parts in Indjija – Investment of JFE Shoji Worth EUR 50 Million

The Japanese company JFE Shoji Corporation has started building a factory for the production of metal parts for electric motors in Indija today. Around EUR 50 million will be invested in the factory.

The plan is for up to 150 people to be employed in the first phase and for the production to start in early 2025 at this factory, on 18,000 hectares, the first one in Europe that is owned by JFE Shoji.

The ceremony of they laying down of the foundation stone was attended by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the ambassador of Japan, Akira Imamura, the minister of domestic and foreign trade, Tomislav Momirovic, the assistant minister for dual education, Gabrijela Grujic, and the president of the Municipality of Indjija, Vladimir Gak.

Vucic said that the Government of Serbia had given a subsidy of EUR 2.86 million to the Japanese company for the opening of the factory in Indjija and that it was ready to keep helping the company develop its investment in Serbia.

He pointed out that JFE Shoji would increase the degree of training of workers in Serbia for high technologies, but also the attracting of new investors.


He thanked ambassador Akira Imamura for contributing to Tokyo and Belgrade becoming closer and to Japanese companies becoming interested in doing business in Serbia.

The executive vice president of JFE Shoji Corporation, Yoshitsugu Kobayashi, said that the latest technologies used by the company would contribute to the development of the automotive and electrical industries in Serbia, but also in Europe.

JFE Shoji was founded in 1954 and it operates in the steel industry and employs over 8,500 people in over 54 facilities and branch offices in countries in Southeast Asia, China and North America.
