The municipality of Vrnjacka Banja has handed over to the competent ministry the Request for deciding on the necessity of the environmental impact assessment study for the project of the construction of the Vrnjacka Banja-Goc gondola. The request was prepared by Eco Engineering and Consulting, whereas the preliminary design was prepared by Hidromontaza doo. The construction of the Vrnjacka Banja-Goc gondola will encompass 4 cadaster municipalities: Vrnjacka Banja, Lipova, Novo Selo and Goc. It consists of the entry station Vrnjacka Banja, the interstation Lipova and the exit station Goc, with 30 pole positions.

The initial capacity of the gondola is planned to be 52 cabins, and later on, a total of 84. One cabin will be able to carry 10 passengers. The initial capacity of the gondola is designed so as to be able to transport 1,200 people per hour, whereas the maximum capacity, at a speed of 6 m/s, is designed for 2,400 people per hour.

The entire installation is designed to withstand wind gusts of up to 70 km/h.

The planned length of the gondola is nearly 7 kilometers, with an altitude difference of 782.70 m. As pointed out, the gondola, which will connect two important tourism places, Vrnjacka Banja and Goc, will be available to guests in both summer and winter, and in addition to its tourist purpose, it can also be used for sports, since there are skiing grounds at the exit station.

The entry station will be located in Vrnjacka Banja near the Slatina spring. Features such as a depot for ski equipment, a ski house and a bicycle and electric scooter rental facility are planned next to it.

The interstation Lipova is located on a natural hillock in a thick forest on the slopes of Goc. Next to it, the plan is to build garages for the cabins and a tourist restaurant facility – a café bar with a kitchen. The configuration of the terrain enables the roof of the restaurant and the cabin garages to be used as a roof-deck and a restaurant balcony with sightlines toward Vrnjacka Banja, according to the project.

The exit station, on Goc, will also have a restaurant with a gallery and surfaces for the handling of the users of the gondola (canopies, barns, rests, posts, areas with benches, fountains and toilets). Temporary facilities for the organization of presentations, exhibitions, plays, fairs and so on will also be located there.

The gondola’s engine will run on electricity, chosen as an alternative to diesel fuel, to the end of reducing the emissions of exhaust gases into the air and protecting the environment.

As announced earlier, the construction of the gondola is worth EUR 60 million, and it will be built by the municipality, the government and the family of Novak Djokovic, which is why it will be named after Serbia’s best tennis player.
