It is crucial to accelerate the procedures in order to create the necessary preconditions for the beginning of the construction of the Pumped-Storage Hydro Power Plant Bistrica, said the minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, during a meeting with the delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which began its second visit to Serbia.

– For two years, we have been cooperating with JICA on the preparation of project-technical documentation, and an agreement was reached on the importance of meeting the requirements that are necessary for such complex projects. However, we also want the realization of the project to start as soon as possible, bearing in mind the importance of this pumped-storage hydro power plant. Our goal is to overcome the challenges related to the completion of the project assessment by JICA so that they can provide funding as soon as possible, in accordance with the specific requirements of JICA and their procedures, which we will work on in coordination with all the competent institutions. I expect additional support and engagement of JICA experts, so that the construction of the PSHPP Bistrica can start as soon as possible and without delay – said the minister.
