In accordance with the Law on Planning and Construction, the agency is in charge of the preparation of the Central Register of Planning Documents, which is supposed to encompass all the valid planning documents, as well as plans in preparation.
At the meeting, the representatives of the agency presented their estimate that there are currently around 3,700 valid planning documents in Serbia, but that the exact number will be known after all the local self-government units submit precise lists.
Regarding that, the temporary director of the agency, Djordje Milic, also pointed to the obligation under the law according to which, from January 1, 2028, all the planning documents in the Republic of Serbia should be prepared in the GIS format.
He said that it was a very demanding job, especially for local self-government units, which would have to respond to new challenges in terms of staff and organization, and pointed out that it was necessary to adopt new bylaws and harmonize the existing ones in order for the E-space to fully take root.
