“ECOMET RECIKLAZA” D.O.O. LOZNICA: High Purity Lead From Recycled Products

One of the most important tasks of modern economy is the better management of natural resources and increase in their recycling. This is one of the primary goals of circular economy and of “EcoMet Reciklaza” company, whose mission and core activity is to help Serbia become cleaner through purchasing and recycling waste car batteries. The company`s operations are dedicated to processing waste as an untapped but precious resource into a new value with the aim of bringing it back to the production cycle, thereby preserving the environment.

What adds value to company`s operations is the fact that discarded lead car batteries are considered hazardous waste, the treatment of which brings both financial and significant environmental benefits for the whole society.

“EcoMet Reciklaza” began production in the most modern production facilities that operate in line with the highest standards and regulations in the Republic of Serbia. That means that the company first purchases old and discarded car batteries that are then sent for processing that results in the final product – refined and high purity lead alloy.

How does this recycling process work? First the waste, old car batteries in this case, is collected, bought out and transported to the “EcoMet Reciklaza”d.o.o processing facility. A whole new facility for refining raw lead obtained through the recycling of car batteries was built within the production complex. Using modern recycling processes at the company`s facilities, those batteries are processed and the lead produced in the recycling process can be re-used in the production. The main output product of “EcoMet Reciklaza” d.o.o. is lead of high purity, of a quality which is used in trading at the London Metal Exchange – Pb985R. At the same time, the sodium sulfate obtained through the neutralization of the sulfuric acid from the car batteries and the propylene are also re-used.

It is on the latest global methods of processing and the principle of rational and environmentally-oriented model that the operations of “EcoMet Reciklaza” d.o.o. are based, that mainly focuses on processing of hazardous waste, which, if not treated adequately would present a great danger to the environment. Through the purchase and recycling of discarded and unusable car batteries and then melting and refining of their lead content, “EcoMet Reciklaza” d.o.o. directly participates in the circular economy model and environmental protection.

A great deal of attention is dedicated to environmental protection in the course of “EcoMet Reciklaza” d.o.o. business operations. The entire production complex is equipped with modern aspiration, filter and gas pipeline systems for the reduction of the emissions of harmful substances into the air. Through a system of recirculation, the technological processing waters are re-used in the production process itself, so that they are not let into the natural recipient.
